Panda Hat

The idea to make a Panda Hat came from my stepdaughter’s comment on the crochet hat stand, that I have found on the streets of San Francisco. I have showed her THIS photo, to which she immediately replied: ‘Awww, panda hat! You should have got me one!’¬†To which I of course had to respond with making one. This is the result. Husband has become a victim of modelling it for me, and looking extremely cute ūüôā

This is how it looks like, and how I have made it:

Please note, before you start: I have completely improvised on the eyes and nose. I will post updated on how to get the shape soon. My apologies for this.

Panda Hat   Husband with Panda

You will need:

Yarn: ¬† King Cole Cuddles Chunky 50g Cream #353 and Black #302 (you will need only a little black to make ears, eyes and nose. You could use a different yarn to make those, if you don’t want to buy a whole skein)

Hook:  5.5 mm/ I/ 9

Yarn needle

General tips:

– ¬†If you are working with King Cole Cuddles yarn, you will notice that it is quite a challenge to see the stitches. The yarn is really fluffy and you will struggle ¬†with following the pattern tightly. Don’t worry! The fluffy-ness gives you a lot space for error and it doesn’t matter if you make 2sc in a stitch that should have 1sc. For as long as you keep the number of stitches in the round as per pattern, you should be fine.

– The pattern indicates 30 rows, but this is completely up to your own preferences. You can make the hat as deep or as shallow as you like.

Abbreviations:

MC РMagic circle

Ch – Chain

Sc – Single crochet
